FINALLY! Driftwood Bistro
Forget about the Modern Cafe! Stop moping about Diner’s Rendezvous. Get yourself to DRIFTWOOD BISTRO… Now!
Nanaimo FINALLY has a great seafood restaurant! (There’s plenty more than seafood on the menu! But come on, we’re right on the water and it’s near impossible to get fresh, tasty seafood in this town.)
We had amazing, sweet, succulent Kushi Oysters from Comox and Side Stripe Shrimps from the West Coast in a lovely spicy, garlic sauce with excellent grilled baguette to mop up the sauce. A Seafood Putanesca with more seafood than penne and Ling Cod Fish Tacos: so light and crispy! (They looked a bit daunting, but were surprisingly not messy.) To finish a delightful fresh, organic Peach Crumble with Vanilla Ice Cream. All of it paired wonderfully with a crisp and citrusy, 2010 Pinot Grigio from Cowichan Valley’s Avrill Creek — “Pure Island Fruit.”
An outstanding meal! And right in the heart of Downtown Nanaimo. Jennifer was stunning in the front end; and Frankie must love what he’s doing in the kitchen. You can feel the love in this place. You won’t be disappointed!
Thank-you Frankie and Jenni!
Sorry we forgot the camera, but we’ll be back for photos the next time!
